Reactivity & Aggression
With behavior modification training, we focus on understanding your dog’s unique needs and addressing behavioral challenges such as leash reactivity, resource guarding, or aggression toward people or animals. We formulate personalized strategies that empower you and your dog and are here to provide consistent guidance and support throughout the process.
Puppy Training
Get your dog started on the right paw! It is important to start training as soon as you get your dog to ensure they are properly socialized and learn appropriate manners. We address all the common training needs such as house training, puppy biting, appropriate play, chewing, crate training, and much more. We also work on basic obedience commands and how to safely and effectively socialize your pup to all different kinds of environments, people, and pets. Available in group puppy-class or private sessions.
Basic Obedience
Suitable for all ages! Learn to effectively teach your dog manners, leash walking, boundaries in the house, and basic commands such as sit, down, stay, heel, place, leave it, drop it, and more! Available in group obedience classes or private sessions.
Fear and Anxiety
We help address any fears and anxieties your dog has such as separation anxiety, social anxiety, fear of vets/grooming, fear of strangers, resource guarding, and much more. Our training approach will be specifically tailored to your dog’s needs. Learn confidence-building exercises to build trust with your dog and encourage them out of their comfort zone. Enjoy the experience of watching them conquer their fears to enjoy life more comfortably!
Cooperative Care
Teach your dog to willingly consent to being handled. Vet visits and grooming can be extremely stressful for dogs! Cooperative care training helps desensitize them to common handling and procedures performed at the vet, groomers, or by you in your own home. It is best to start cooperative care training as soon as possible for best results. Vet anxiety – Teach your dog to comfortably wear a muzzle if needed and hold relaxed positions in response to cues. This reduces the need for physical restraint, keeping your pet safe and less anxious. These techniques create a foundation for a more positive vet experience, reducing anxiety for both your pet and the veterinary team. Grooming anxiety – Learn how to safely trim your dog’s nails, bathe, and brush them at home, or set them up for a stress-free grooming experience. Dogs that fear nail trims can be taught to use a scratchboard to file their own nails with ease.
Maya is the absolute best. Her knowledge, positively, and encouragement are unmatched. We appreciate all she has done for us and our pups. Our life is more enjoyable as dog owners. Thank you Maya!
Maya is amazing!! She took the time to get to know my dogs and their anxieties. I loved being able to use positive reinforcement to help my dogs feel safer and more confident. Walks are now so much more enjoyable and our home is much more calm. Maya gave me some great strategies to use and always listened to my concerns and answered any questions I had. Would highly recommend!
I highly recommend Maya DePasquale of Cape Fearless Dog Training. When we started training, our puppy Sable would not move at all with the collar on. Maya used patience and positive reinforcement to gain Sable’s trust introducing new situations. She also trained us as owners how to encourage Sable and build confidence with practice at home during the week. Sable now walks confidently on leash in the park and in the neighborhood. Sable graduated yesterday! Maya did a fantastic job with all of us.
We had the best experience with Maya! She provided just the calm and confident direction and support we needed to get through a few challenges. Maya is professional, knowledgeable, keenly observant, and attuned to both canine and owner factors. Maya focuses on the relationship between me and my pup through positive reinforcement and pain-free behavior modification. With real world sessions in the community, we were quickly able to tackle the training issues while simultaneously equipping me with the skills and tools I needed to take it from here. We will be back with any future concerns or training needs! Thank you!
My rescue dog, Finn and I needed help, and Maya was just the one to give us what we needed! I needed the confidence and the skills to deal with Finn’s leash reactivity. Finn, as an anxious dog, needed some confidence boosting and a chance to show us just how much he could learn. Maya is a professional, friendly and calm positive reinforcement trainer. From the beginning she had confidence in Finn and me. She makes it easy to understand, and she will answer any and all questions during the training process. I could not recommend her more highly! We had a series of lessons with Maya for our four month old GSD and are extremely pleased with the results. Maya has a great understanding of dogs and helped us out getting our pup ready to get out in the world. We could always reach out if we had questions and Maya always had a good solution for our questions. Great personality and easy to work with plus our dog loved her I’d recommend lessons or socialization training from her. Very happy!
Maya is a awesome trainer!! My rescue Indie came to me with some aggression issues which I have never encountered with a any dog before especially a Frenchie. I was a little afraid of her. Maya has had so much experience with this and was very understanding of my concerns. After the first lesson I was seeing positive results. Maya has provided me with the tools and knowledge of how to have a happy and healthy relationship with Indie. I know going forward our bond will strengthen all thanks to Maya! I would highly recommend her for any training needs you might have. Thank you Maya!!
Maya is so great! She worked so well with Jumba and was able to help soothe some of my own anxieties by showing me how to work with him. Highly recommend her for training! Jumba loved her.
My rescue dog Josie and I are so grateful to have found Maya to work with and only wish we’d found her sooner! We had worked with a handful of trainers prior to finding Maya for Josie’s reactivity to other dogs while on leash. I could tell after only one session, this was going to be different. Maya’s positive reinforcement and other techniques have helped tremendously and going for a walk is no longer such a stressful situation. I never would have ventured to a park with other dogs around to try to walk Josie and now it can be a fun outing. Thank you for everything, Maya!
Maya was great to work with and responsive to all my questions, and took time to make sure my son was comfortable being a leader. She worked with our schedule and took the guesswork out of which harness, leash, toys, etc would work best with our feisty young foster. I would definitely recommend her to anyone!
We used Maya and only wish we found her earlier! Our 1 year old puppy was very leash reactive and we live in a very dog friendly downtown apartment at the moment, so walks were miserable! Maya taught us tips and tricks on how to handle situations that have made walks so much more relaxing and rewarding for Emmett and myself! He has amazing recall skills and can be trusted on his long leash even in distracting environments because of training with Maya. Cannot recommend enough!! Even if your dog has no immediate behavior issues, Maya has so many tips and has such good advice on everything “dog” that it is worth your time to train yourself too 🙂 Emmett made a furever friend in Maya!
I took my 2 year old pitty mix, Xena for reactivity training. Not only did I see improvement within out first session. I personally gained the skills to confidently work with Xena on my own.
Maya also allowed Xena to meet and train with her dog. This gave Xena the ability to over come her fear of meeting new friends!!
Xena and I are very grateful for the opportunity to work with Cape Fearless Dog Training!
Can’t recommend Maya more!! I came to her with my 8 year old dog Zoey who has separation anxiety issues and leash reactivity. She gives you all of the information you need about your dog and their antics and body language. After our sessions I feel an understanding with my dog and how I can better help her get through scary situations for her. Maya gives you the positive reinforcement exercises to use with your dog to overall improve their behavior. She also is available outside of training to answer any questions you might run into. After our sessions I have all of the tools to give my Zoey girl the best quality of life for her!
